The Deaf Institute
Brian and Pam Eubanks asked us to come to a church for the deaf in Indianapolis to begin the filming for the Deaf Institute. After the service and several boxes of pizza, we continued into the afternoon taping interviews of the members. After several hours of amazing stories and testimony, we gathered up the cameras and equipment and walked back toward the classroom where we had left our travel trunk and bags. I mentioned to Brian as we were walking down the hallway that everyone must have left, since it was so quiet. But, as we entered the classroom, we found nearly half the congregation still there in the classroom, at 4 O’clock in the afternoon, discussing the morning’s lessons and the sermon…actually quite “loudly”, as Brian pointed out, all in ASL (American Sign Language)! This was an excited Church!
